Can someone give me a quick and easy way to calculate Come bet Odds in Craps?

The process is too fast for my simple brain. What is the easiest way to calculate the odds winnings on the fly?

It is easier to remember if you understand why the odds are what they are. With two dice there are 36 possible combinations of numbers that can be rolled. Of those 36, there are

1 way to roll a 2

2 ways to roll a 3

3 ways to roll a 4

4 ways to roll a 5

5 ways to roll a 6

6 ways to roll a 7

5 ways to roll a 8

4 ways to roll a 9

3 ways to roll a 10

2 ways to roll an 11

1 way to roll a 12.

Since the only numbers that make a difference for the odds bet are the point and the 7, simply divide the number of ways to make a 7 by the number of ways to make the point.

For a 6 or 8 that is 6 / 5, pays 6 to 5.

For a 5 or 9 that is 6 / 4, pays 3 to 2.

For a 4 or 10 that is 6 / 3, pays 2 to 1.

To get true odds paid, always make your odds bet

a multiple of 5 if the point is 6 or 8

a multiple of 2 if the point is 5 or 9.

(It helps some people to remember that if the point is an  odd number the odds bet should be an ever number of dollars.)
