  1. I don't know. I do remember that a few years back a white couple in their early 20's were tortured, raped, and killed by five black men. They were charged with murder, but not with a hate crime.

Can you imagine if it had been the other way around, the kind of reaction that that would have gotten?

  2. Well I'm not sure how to respond to this question sorry.

  3. yeah, nonexistent.  so i know the point of labeling a particular crime a "hate crime", and giving a higher sentence is intended to make a point...should a person really get a higher sentence just to make a point?  is that justice?  i'm all for prosecuting to the fullest extent of the law, but if a guy kills someone of the same race the penalty should be the same as if he kills someone of a different race.  the law already provides for flexibility due to circumstances, the court can sentence a child killer-torturer more severely than some one who kills some scumbag that has been harassing half the planet. when ever you stack the deck in a free society, the society is not free.  we have built in devices in our government that allow leeway in dealing with special problems, we don't need to legislate racism in any form, even if it is intended to help.

  4. they arent because according to the law, minorities can't be racist.........(as far as i know)......

  5. uuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhh... i have seriously never heard of one

  6. Black teen gets probation in mob beating of white women

A black teenager was sentenced to probation and home confinement for 60 days for his role in the beatings of three white women attacked by a mob on Halloween in Long Beach, Calif., the Press-Telegram reports. Three other teens also are to be sentenced today by Long Beach Superior Court Judge Gibson Lee.

The Los Angeles Times says that Anthony Ross, 18, must perform 250 hours of community service as part of his probation. He was 17 at the time of the attack and the oldest to be convicted. He also was the only male. Prosecutors had asked for nine months in a youth camp, arguing that he was one of the most culpable in the group. In all, nine teens — eight teenage girls and Ross — were convicted of felony assault. One girl also was convicted of a hate crime.

Yesterday, the three victims told the judge of their physical and mental trauma, and urged stiff punishment, the Times reported. The Press-Telegram has video.

This week's LA Weekly takes a look at media coverage of the trial and verdict.

Update at 9:25 p.m. ET: The judge also sentenced Ross's twin sister, Antoinette, their 16-year-old sister and another 16-year-old to probation. The five remaining defendants are to be sentenced next week.

The FBI does compile statistics on hate crime, and does list a number of hate crimes that were committed against whites.  Whether that means that the defendants in these cases were charged with a hate crime, I don't know.

The FBI lists 890 incidents of hate crime against a white, with 1008 offenses and 1054 victims with 1074 known offenders.

  7. apparently white isnt a protected race

look what happened in Jena. A white kid gets the **** beat out of him for what a different white kid did and black rallied because they didint even want these kids charged because they thought it was justified that this white kid got beat up and knocked unconcious because some OTHER white kid hung a noose on a tree.

the Red Cross even went out and handed out nice cold bottled water to the protesters down there in Jena
