He started playing last year on a Cort guitar we bought him at a pawn shop and has gotten quite a bit better. As long as he keeps at it and goes to lessons, we're all for supporting him, but the style of guitar (shape) has prices ranging from $200 to about as much as my first car. Is there a way for me to determine what's good for him? It may help to know that he plays screamo/heavy metal music and some old hard rock.

  1. Well I own the EX-50 the $200 model and I have never had any problems with. It has great tone and harmonics and I've been playing on it for about 5 years. The other ESP I own is the FX-260 it cost a little more but the sound quality can't be matched. I compared that on to a few high dollar Jacksons and Gibsons my friend has and he was blown away by the tone. But if the price is too much just get the EX-50 I play it in drop C tuning and it sounds great and matched with my amp I can cover anything form country to death metal.
