  1. Yes you can still fly. My mother fractured her coccyx last year and it was very painful for her. However there is nothing that can be done other than taking painkillers when needed. It will be uncomfortable for a while, a couple of months is not unheard of even just for bruising.

  2. You'll be allowed to fly, but it just depends if you can sit down that long without it becoming too painful.

  3. Firstly, the correct spelling is coccyx. It is the tail end of your spinal column. Some may commonly call it the "tail bone" b/c in some animals it is larger and and forms the bone support for a tail. To my knowledge , it is not a very crucial bone like the higher parts of the spinal column. Chiefly b/c it does not house the spinal cord - it ends at the sacral level(higher up). Whether you can fly or not depends on the severity of the fracture and ,more importantly , on how much pain you are experiencing. Can you sit for the time required for the flight? If so, then you probably should be able to fly to your vacation destination.

  4. When I was in grade school I got thrown off a horse and broke my tailbone.  I'd like to tell you that there is something you can do but the fact is all you can do is try to be comfortable.  Take a really good smooshy pillow to sit on.  You'll be doing this for a long time.  It was years (literally) before mine didn't hurt and the first 6 months it hurt ALOT.  Since there is no way to splint the tailbone all you can do is ride it out.

  5. Yes you can fly as the coccyx is the very last few segments of you spine and is the remenamnts of your tail. The only concern is can you endure the pain of sitting for so long. Take a cushion to sit on, an inflatable 'O' ring I suggest.

  6. Cocyx is the bone at the bottom of your spine.  It's the bit that you sit on.

As long as it's not painful to sit then it shouldn't be a problem.
