Can someone give me pros and cons of selling Avon/mark and Mary Kay?

I recently graduated college and I'm looking to find something that would help me to earn a little extra money on the side to help with paying bills especially since I will have student loans due soon. I was this-close to signing up with Mary Kay but once I researched it I'm not sure it's right for me. I thought about Avon/mark but I wanted to know the pros and cons of them and if you can actually make any money with it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  1. With Avon you are totally in control of how much you make and you can increase your sales easily every two weeks. Avon never requires any inventory and you can sell it on your time schedule, whatever that may be. There are no minimum orders required, no parties to schedule.  Avon has been in the business of developing and selling beauty products for over 120 years. Avon is an internationally recognized company and the number one in sales in the direct selling industry, far ahead of all other direct selling companies. Avon is a Fortune 300 company which means that it is considered one of the top 300 companies in the nation. Avon sets their price sales points to be competitive with all national brands and the quality is superior to all national brands, primarily because Avon has their own research and development facility.

Avon is The Company for Women. That is more than just a catch phrase.

If you would like to contact me to discuss any of these points, please feel free to do so through my website: www.ideliveravon.com

  2. Miranda,

I sold Avon a few years ago, but started selling Mary Kay once I was introduced to it. I found it much harder to make money at Avon than Mary Kay. I love that MK provides the consultants with a business plan and tells you exactly what you need to do to be successful.

Avon's brochures changed so frequently that I could never keep up with the most current one. MK only releases new brochures 4x per year, so I know exactly when the next ones are coming out. Also, I love that with Mary Kay you earn 50% profit on everything you sell. Avon pays it's consultants based on how much they sell, and you have to sell over $1,000 within a few weeks to earn 50% profit.

If after reviewing all the info you gather, if you decide to sell Mary Kay, I would be more than happy to help you get started. Contrary to popular belief, you do NOT need to purchase any type of inventory with Mary Kay - that's totally optional. In order to get started, you just need to purchase the Starter Kit for $100 plus tax & shipping (around $114 total). The starter kit contains over $320 in full size products plus everything (including the business selling plan) you need to get your business off the ground.

If you would like more info on selling MK, I can send you some attachments.

  3. Well what is holding you back if you were close to signing.  what interested you in the first place?  I have been doing Mary Kay for 4 years and I love it.  I find it easy to sell and fun to do.  I love the simplicity of the marketing plan and find Avon very confusing you need to sell a lot to make anything and the books change so frequently so you are buying catalogs very few weeks.  The bottom line is what is best for you so either sit down with someone from both companies or write down the question you have based on what is important to you.  Do you use either product? That is why I started Mary Kay I used it so I had nothing to lose.  You need to like the person you are signing under too make sure you meet their director and find out what type of support\training they provide
