Can someone give me some ideas about starting a new clothing shop business?

how to start?... how much money do i need?.... how and where to get stock?.... in general what do i need to know!!! thx alllllll.

I live in Indonesia, so I only want to share my experience. First, I do sell cloth just to my friends, families, neighbours, etc. I used to join any bazaar too. On that period, flyers, brochures and name cards always be my number one tools, to make people aware of my busines. After I have a lot of customers, then I look for a permanent place so the customer can look for may product s  with comfortable....And my clothing shop being famous.

To make my product unusual, I join with a friend who is fortunetly to be a designer. But for other products such as accesories, bag, neckless, some we buy it and some we get through consignation system.

Are you in Australia?

Well - You need to find some suppliers you would like to deal with - What kind of Market are you going to try and deal with?

Have you sorted out a ABN or a Place to own the business? If not - get in touch with Fair Trading and they will set you in the right direction for that!

I come to Sydney twice a year to do a stock shop - since you living down there - it will be eazy for you to get in touch with the suppilers and organise meetings with them for stock.

Money wise - that depends on what market you want to deal in - When you know if you want brands like " KCM " or " Red Berry" which you can find the supplier in Kippax St Surry Hills you will need the cash up front on how much you spend - Otherwise - if you want brands like "Gorden Smith" or "Marco Polo" you will be given a account.

I own my own clothing shop - i stock sizes from 8 to 24 and from ages 14 to 85. I live in Central NSW. I did my reseach and found what was needed in this area. - you will need to do this!
