Can someone give me some makeup guidance? I really have no idea where to start...

I'm heading off to college in the fall, and, as a pretty solid tomboy my whole life, I've never begun to delve into the world of makeup. The little that I have was provided from my mom's stash (Sheer Cover concealer and foundation) when I wanted to look professional for a college interview, but I want to start buying and using my own makeup. Now, I look at all the choices in the stores and online, and I'm pretty much overwhelmed.

I have very fair, pale skin, with blonde hair and green eyes; my skin is prone to mild breakouts, though generally not very oily. And it would be wonderful if I could put makeup on in the morning and not have to worry about it smearing or coming off for the rest of the day, but I have no idea if this is possible. Any tips as to what would look nice and natural - I just want to look polished, not painted - and might come with a reasonable price tag would be highly appreciated!

  1. the bare minerals line.

everything except the eye shadow, it doesnt stay on very well. The people at the stores there are willing to help you find everything you want or need.

The Sephora Line eye shadow is really cheap and it works brilliantly. a light purple or brown/ bronze would look really good on green eyes.

Also, the women working at the stores are more than happy to help you. They know the best tips and what looks best on what type of face and your schedule and how much time you're willing to put into your make up.

  2. if you want to look naturally polished but not overdone and not have to stress over smearing, there are lots of things you could try.

for your skin you could use some concealer. very fair skin tones can be hard to match, but CoverGirl has a really pale concealer stick; i use that one... lol. and maybe you could add a little powder too, and a tiny bit of blush (something light and peachy so it looks like a little healthy color and not a sunburn).

for your lips you could do a light pink (or plenty of other colors) lipgloss. that would look really nice.

as for your eyes, a really simple and fairly easy solution would be some mascara (black or dark brown) and brown eyeliner. or maybe some medium brown eyeshadow and darker eyeliner and mascara.

you can find lots of makeup tutorials on youtube, and you could also try visiting a makeup store like MAC or Sephora, where they have makeup artists who can help you and even put some makeup on you themselves :]
