  1. use the wall for support, or hold hands with someone.

  2. Try to bend your knees to get balanced and first push with one of your legs then push with the other.Don't look down but forward.Make sure your skates are not dull otherwise nothing will help you from falling.Don't speed up if you feel not that comfortable on the ice.And remember-all come with practice. After few more skating you won't have these problems anymore;)

  3. Go VERY slow!  Hold on to something.  Good luck!

  4. I hgo iceskating all the time, before i learned how i fell a couple of times and later i learned that your feet shouldnt be bending inwards or outwards to much, this makes you lose your balance. And for falling if you feel like you are about to fall lean forward so you dont fall on your back and hurt yourself even worse so BE PREPARED TO FALL! and sometime fall on purpoase if you fell like your outa control.

    Good Luck!

  5. I play travel hockey soo.... you don't want to lean back or you'll fall. you have to bend your knees and lean forward a bit and push of with you back foot (they alternate) and glide with the forward foot (they alternate) but for starters... grab onto the boards until you get used to the feel on skating then try a lap without the boards. Try to use my tips... but don't over do it. Its hard to get used to if you go on for the first time, you won't have the same feel as the ice as i do. and also, don't bend your skate blades in from a poor job tying them up, Make sure they are tight, but not too tight, so they don't bend in when you skate. Sometimes people use chairs to keep their balance which is better than the boards because it more realistic when you skate on your own. Your center of gravity is better which gives you more balance. Don['t go fast until you learn to skate going slow.

    Hope this helps.

    Good Luck :D

  6. i use to figure skate for 10 years and what always amazed me is that people put skates on and think they can walk on ice. Just remember to glide... walking will not work and trying to walk on a slippery surface with blades on your feet will not do any better. Just take it slow and slowly push off don't lock your knees, keep them bent so you can be flexible and have the ability to wobble if you need to.  try to keep your weight even through out your foot. Meaning don't lean forward or backwards since most blades on ice skates are actually curved a bit this will cause to wobble forward or flail your arms around cause you think you're gonna fall backwards... have fun most importantly it is so much fun i miss it!

  7. hey check out the web site and hope this helps!!!

  8. Basic tip #1.. KEEP Y OUR KNEES Bent!

To start 'skating' try to jsut swing your hips, or make a walking like motion by ONLY sliding your skates on the ice.

When you are comforatble enough to try to star skating.. push off (well not thre to be able to show you) but Make a 'T' with your skates. (the top of the 'T' should be the skate you 'push' off with.

if you want to try & go backwards..swivel your hips.

(I have not been able to do it the way the hockey players do it though so can't explain that one)

I hope this websote will have some more tips
