Like steals for fast break points. I want to know the numbers on how his D is directly helping THe US WIN?

  1. Defense is not just about steals. Keeping your body in front of the dribbler, denying the ball, fighting through screens, and playing passing lanes. Great defense won't show up on the stat sheet. You have to watch a game and focus on a player and not the ball every now and then. Watch how Kobe anticipates and focus on his tenacity while playing D. He is the best on the ball defender I have seen since MJ retired.

  2. I was wondering that too since his offense sure isn't helping much? So far I've only seen 1 blocked shot and 3-4 steals. And on offense I've seen him get blocked twice and I lost count how many shots he's missed. So I'm not sure if he's helping them or slowing them down?

And this is coming from a huge Kobe fan. I hope he starts to play like we all know he can...

  3. Basketball 101: Defense is the art of stopping your opponents from scoring. Not exactly scoring points for you.

  4. Defense isn't about the steals or the rebounds.  It's about keeping others from the opposing team from getting stats other than turnovers.  (Kobe has a history of keeping his teammates from getting stats... just ask Shaq)

But Kobe's defense right now is making Carmelo's defense look good... I dunno, but isn't that a good thing?  Making your teammates look good?  ROFL!
