Of all places that might be called the "TitleTown USA" right now, San Francisco would be the last thing on people's mind.

Giants - rebuilding

49ers - rebuilding

W's & A's (Oakland, not even SF) - halfway decent, not quite title contender

Sharks - a very good team that no one cares about other than a few thousand diehards in San Jose

Sabrecats - a very good team (playing for the AFL title at the Arena Bowl) that no one cares about other than a few hundred diehards in San Jose

Cal football - program on the way up, but huge ? mark at QB

Stanford football - program on the way up, but huge ? mark at pretty much every position

Stanford basketball - good program facing a coaching change

Cal basketball - bad program facing a coaching change

Stanford & Cal women's basketball - very good teams that no one cares about other than the alums

Earthquakes - worst record in MLS

Did I miss anything else?

Edit: Wow.  I missed the Raiders... a freaking sad franchise with a senile owner still very much in charge.

i dont have a link but this is basically what brent jones said: SF should be titletown because of the 9ers and them being undefeated in SBs going 5/5 with some of the greatest players to play ie. montana, young, lott, rice etc...also the giants have 5 WS, and multiple pennants and HOF players. and also said boston is cheating because the pats play in foxboro, not boston. the 9ers actually play in the same city they represent. and he said if they want to include foxoro as boston, then we lump in oakland and add the As and raiders' resume to ours.

I dont know but I can give reasons: San Francisco because of a great dynasty the 49ers and the history of players from the Giants. San Jose should also be considered since the Sharks are the next champions and Sabercats owning all for multiple years.
