I already play the flute, and I've figured out how to get good tone quality with that, but I'm just learning the tuba for marching band and I always seem to sound sharp. Does anyone have any advice?

  1. practicing will help, buzzing the mouthpiece is a great idea as well as lip slurs and long tones

  2. Run it over with your truck.

  3. It's a mix between the other answers.  It's very important to have good airflow. That will keep your sound from being weak. It is equally important to open your throught, and lower your jaw. This will darken your tone. If you do both of these together, you should attain better tuning too.     Running it over would just make it more sharp!     Good Luck!!

  4. open up your mouth a little bit more. i play the tuba to and have been playing for about 3 to 4 yrears now and im going to start learning how to march in august. and good luck with it it is a very fun instrument  to play

  5. I would suggest maintaining a strong air flow and even tone. Just keep practicing and you will surely improve.

  6. You must drop your jaw and keep a clear TOH sound.

I've been playing tuba for 4 years now. When I started, I was 4" 2' and now I'm a sophomore in high school, 4" 9' and they're finally letting me march! If you ever need help, I can help you out! Tuba is a great instrument(:
