Can someone give me workouts to run a 5 minute mile?

I'm going into the 8th grade, and i run cross country and track. By track season which starts in April, I want to run a five minute mile. My personal best last year in track was 5:20. The mile record for my school is 5:01. Can anyone help me break this record?

  1. do 4x400m's at the goal pace of 75 seconds per 400meters. Do this 2-3 times with 1 min recover in between each lap. Once you can do that 2-3 times and stay on pace you will be golden. If 1 minute recovery between each lap isn't enough then do a little more. I myself have run a 4:40 mile. Of course stay on your easy miles and good luck. Email me if all goes well.
