  1. Hard to tell if a school is good from a website, but it looks kid friendly.

I would take your son up to the school, meet the instructor and watch a class.  If you show interest many schools will let prospective students take a free class or 2 before joining.  Explore that option and see where it takes you.

One thing that I like about the website - they seem to focus on building athletes as opposed to "fighters" and VERY focused on their youth competitors.  That's a good sign to me.  Sounds like they really care about what their athletes are doing, and encourage healthy competition.  Their roster shows maybe 15 young guys - if you check the events, these guys are competing in US and overseas, and the school is keeping up with them and encouraging them despite some losses.  That is great!

If I was going to put my 6 yr old in a school based strictly on a website, I'd feel pretty good about this school.

    Good luck.

  2. looks a bit dodgy to me...

  3. well, it looks like someone put work into this. However I would speakwith the instructor. If he is all about power takedowns and paralyzing punches, then he is not for you. Look for someone that promotes self defense, and respect.

  4. it looks beast i would go with it

  5. Find a good Kodokan Judo dojo instead.

  6. Trust me on this, martial arts gets cooler while you get into it. First, you are a new student. You make new friends. Then, you go into another class with those same people as you advance in rank. Before you know it you're in leadership. There, you make even more friends! You can all go to tournaments and win trophies and medals. And it's all leading up to your main goal:

                                   THE BLACK BELT!

  7. If you're unsure you can always take your son to the dojo (or whatever you call it) and see if the place looks kid-friendly. I don't know if you want to enroll him in a Cobra Kai type place. I know most places even offer a free trial, so that may also be an option; just to see how he likes it.
