Can someone guide me the process to get Driving License in Sao Paulo, Brazil?

  1. The process to get a driven license in São Paulo (or any other city in Brazil) is not so easy. First you must have at least 18 years old (not like USA). You need to perform 2 exams: Psychotecnical and medical. After that you need ot attend 15 hours of drive class (unfortunately it is mandatory). After that you will have other 2 tests: written test and drive test. If you pass all tests you will get your license but it will expiry in one year. If you had not violated any important law with your car you can request your final license that will expiry in 5 years.

    Ah... the process is not cheap. If you go directly to DETRAN (National Transit department) to start the process it will save some money but not time. There are companies specialized in this process but the cost increase a lot.


  2. Adding more informations: the cost to get your license is about U$500,00, and after all tests, you wait more about 2 weeks to receive your license. You spend at least 1 month and a half to begging and end the process.
