  1. can you tell us what city? several cities call their bus system

    "Metro

Los Angeles,  San Diego, Denver Atlanta, Medenco transit

Seattle Dallas, Miami New York, Boston

    they all called Metro!

I can tell if You if Metro in Los Angeles you can go to

most check cashing places and some grocery stores

as well as  metro customer service centers

    (Wilshire/LA Brea and downtown LA)

a Metro pass for the next month goes on say on the 25th of the

previous month till the 10th of the month in question

like if you want to buy a Sept Monty pass you can buy starting

Aug 25 ) and they continue selling them till the 10 of that

    month

they also have a weekly pass as well

most other transit providers have simlar routines (although some may only sell from the 30th other start on teh  20th of the previos month

  2. NYC area does not call Metro.

It's called New York City Transit.

If you're prefering to  Metropolitan Transportation Authority or Westchester County Bee-Line bus:

    From MetroCard Vending Machine.

    1. Touch screen to start.

    2. Choose languages.

    3. Refill New Card (if you already have Regular MetroCard), Get A Card Info, New Card.

    4. Click on new card.

    5. Regular or Unlimited MetroCard.

5a. If you want Pay-Per-Ride, choose regular and click on amount you choose.

Subways and local buses are $2 and express buses are $5. Free transfers enconded within two hours.

5b. If you chose OTHER AMOUNT, type in number of money you wish to put in your card to get 15% bonus.

6a. If you choose Unlimited, you have to choice of 1-Day, 7-Day, 14-Day, 7-Day Express Bus Plus, 30-Day MetroCard. These unlimited MetroCard is activited from purchase day.

On Subway Stations and Roosevelt Island Tramway, you swipe your MetroCard.

On city bus and Bee-Line bus, you dip your MetroCard and it will come back.

On PATH (Port Authority TransHudson) MetroCard Vending Machine, do same, but only Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard or Smartlink Card.

If you're using Pay-Per-Ride, you could refill and put in $1.75 fare if your card is empty.

Empty Smartlink Card can be purchase at WTC for $5, then tag machine to start, then add trips or unlimited ride on PATH train.

I could make you guide how to use MetroCard machines and Bx12+Select Bus machines.
