Can someone hack you by sending a picture to you over aim?

Someone im'd me today and sent me a picture through aim. I connected and accepted the picture. The person then kept on asking to see pictures of me so i blocked her and deleted the photos that were sent. I ran a scan using webroot and everything came up clean. however it is about 4 months old. could i of gotten hacked or sent a virus?

  1. Ok, you connected to them using Direct Connect, so they know ur IP Address now. They can take over your computer easily now. Second, the photos could have embedded .vbs or .bat scripts and infected your computer with a virus. next time, ask them to send it to you in a email and check your email at a library.


  2. If you are direct connected then yes. Its possible but they must know what they are doing. They will run some stuff when connected to find out your ip address and then from there find ports on your computer and exploit them. So you could get hacked or sent a virus. But you must have knowledge and if its just you simple buddy joe then I don't think he would have the skills to do that.

  3. I REALLY doubt it because in order to do that, you would have to find a jpeg exploit and then hide malicious shellcode inside of it.
