I'm self employed, at my address for 8mths but because I was working in republic of Ireland for 3yrs previous to that no one wants to know! Need a new van for work...having a mare!

First, no bank will assist you as a non-customer.

You are free to approach  individuals or micro finance houses but the terms of  repayment and interest are cut throat!.

Since what you need is a new van, why not approach motor companies?

First of all, you want to get registered on the electoral role if you haven't already. This can make a huge difference to your credit worthiness. Unfortunately, you're what we would class has a VERY high risk borrow for several reasons - not lived in the UK for the previous 3 years, not lived in your current property for at least 12 months, self-employed and high risk job (if you have an accident, who's going to pay off the loan). The purpose of your loan is also high risk. I highly doubt you'll find any legitimate company that will take on that risk.

Have you not considered leasing a van? Seems like the logical choice to me.
