  1. i think you should do your work by yourself

  2. Look it up yourself, stop trying to get someone else to do your work. Think and do it yourself, in the long run you will be glad you did. You don't want to be one of these "duh people" or one that just goes round mumbling "Whatever"

  3. Vegetarianism is generally defined as the practice of living on a diet made up of vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts and sometimes certain animal products. Vegetarian diets encompass a wide variety of eating patterns.

A vegetarian diet provides a variety of proven health benefits. Vegetarians have significantly reduced rates of obesity, coronary heart disease, hypertension, type II diabetes, diet-related cancers, diverticular disease, constipation and gall stones.

In addition to being richer in fruits and vegetables, vegetarian diets tend to be lower in total fat. Taber & Cook (1980) found lacto-ovo vegetarians to consume an average of 35 percent of energy as fat, compared to omnivores consuming over 40 percent of energy as fat. A study of the diets of a group of French vegetarians found they had a daily intake of 25 percent less fat than non-vegetarians (Millet, 1989). Vegetarians also tend to eat proportionally more polyunsaturated fat to saturated fat compared with non-vegetarians. Animal products are the major sources of dietary saturated fat.

Compared with non-vegetarians, Western vegetarians have:

        * A lower average Body Mass Index (BMI) (by about 1 kg/m2).

        * A lower mean plasma total cholesterol concentration (by about 0.5 mmol/l).

        * A lower mortality from IHD (by about 25 percent).

        * They may also have a lower risk for some other diseases such as constipation, diverticular disease, gallstones and appendicitis.

        * The evidence available suggests that widespread adoption of a vegetarian diet could prevent approximately 40,000 deaths from IHD in Britain each year.

    Disadvantages:

While a vegetarian diet may help prevent many chronic diseases, an unhealthy vegetarian diet can create a different set of medical problems. A daily diet of only rice and vegetables may be "vegetarian" but far from a healthy and balanced diet. When meat, fish, poultry, dairy foods, and eggs are missing in the diet, several important nutrients could also be missing in action. All vegetarians need to make sure that they are consuming adequate amounts of protein, iron, zinc, and vitamin B12, calcium, and vitamins A and D. Vegetarians who include dairy foods in their diet need to avoid loading their plates with saturated-fat laden, full-fat dairy foods such as whole milk and cheeses. Even though fatty meats may be limited on a vegetarian diet, a steady diet of fatty dairy products could cause the amount of artery-clogging saturated fat that is consumed to be off the Richter scale. Also, a vegetarian diet isn't guaranteed to keep you svelte if it is a predominately junk food vegetarian diet that is loaded with high calorie cookies, cakes, candy, and sweetened drinks.

    1. A meat-eater not only takes in the animal cells and fats, etc. but also the waste products, e.g. chemical food stuff fed to the animals, drugs injected into the animal in the slaughter house, and the intoxicants, coloring and tenderizers sprayed on the dead animal by the market suppliers. By the way, hamburgers are made from Cow with the four D’s (Dead, Dying, Disabled, or Diseased) This is way so many children and young adults have died from eating hamburgers.

    2. It is also suspected that meat-eaters are prime candidates for degenerative diseases, e.g. arthritis, gout, etc. Meat is one of the major sources of internal pollution. When an animal is slaughtered, uneliminated waste products remain in the tissue of the animal, which often give the meat its stimulating flavor. Uric acid and adrenaline, these toxins are secreted into the bloodstream and muscles of animals and get deposited. The fear and struggle to escape death stimulates the secretion of hormones like epinephrine, norepinephrine and steroids. No edible plant product has similar toxicity. The human body has to work 15 times more to get rid of that toxin, in spite of which some toxins remain and get accumulated in each and every cell.

3.A parasite, known for inducing miscarriage and causing blindness, jaundice and nervous disorders in newborn babies, was found in samples of animal meat from abattoirs and markets, particularly in third world countries. An article in the German Bunte magazine, entitled 'Karnka von Tiere' (Diseases from Animal) pointed out the diseases that arise from consumption of meat, apart from the reckless wastage of precious land and natural resources for livestock breeding.

  4. U should go for some real-life analysis, refer the studies by

Oxford & American Society for Clinical Nutrition.

    --------------------------------------...

The research was a prospective study of 6000 vegetarians and 5000 nonvegetarian. Thus, the health of vegetarians in this study is generally good and compares favorably with that of the nonvegetarian control subjects.

  6. A vegetarian doesn't eat meat or slaughter by-products (anything made out of animals). Some vegetarians are in fact pescatorian if they eat fish. Vegans eat no animal products at all, including dairy and honey.

Vegetarians get protein from pulses, cheese, eggs, nuts, and seeds rather than meat and tend to eat more fruit and vegetables than meat-eaters, with a similar or larger amount of carbohydrates.

As vegetarian food doesn't contain saturated fat and is generally lower in fat than a diet containing meat, vegetarians are usually healthier than meat-eaters and less likely to be overweight, so avoid diseases brought on by excess weight such as heart disease. Also, as vegetarians normally have had to make a decision about their diet rather than just following what others are eating, they are often more knowledgeable about nutrition and eat more balanced meals.
