  1. so just look it up on google

  2. The pattern is the blade curve. There are heel curves, mid curves and toe curves, describing where the main part of the curve on the blade is. There are also open faces or not, open means that the blade is twisted to loft the puck.

Also, there are round toes and square toes. Unless you need to stickhandle really well, it doesn't matter.

Flex is how much the stick bends.

Since you don't know any of this, I'd just say start out with one of these:

It's one flex, but depending on how old you are and how high you are, you may need this:

    or this: http://hockeymonkey.com/easton-hockey-st...

If you're above 5'6" and 135, use the senior. smaller then that get an intermediate if you're 12 + and a junior if younger.

As for pattern, the Iginla is a good general use pattern. Small curve too, which helps you learn.

  3. Flex means how flexible the stick is.  The higher the number, the stiffer the stick.  I'm not too familiar with the word pattern, but I believe it means what kind of curve is on the stick.  I think just about all sticks these days will have the name of a player on them, identifying the curve, or pattern.

p.s. I'm assuming you were talking about ice hockey, if you were referring to field hockey, sorry but I can't help you there.

  4. flex means how well the stick bends pattern i dont know but look it up on the internet like google.com
