A reaction combines 64.81 grams of silver nitrate with 92.67 grams of potassium bromide. AgNO3 +KBr ---->AgBr +KNO3. How much of the excess reactant is left over? The excess reactant is KBr.

    GFM AgNO3 = 169.87 g

    GFM KBr = 119 g

    mol AgNO3 = 64.81/169.87 = 0.3815 mol

    mol KBr = 92.67/119 = 0.7787 mol

    excess mol = 0.7787 - 0.3815 = 0.3972 mol

    mass KBr left over = 119*0.3972 = 47.27 grams
