Can someone help me donate my small Hotel to Charity ?

Question

I own a small Hotel in Santa Fe NM. www.casadeltoro.com. I will try to keep this short. It's worth a lot of money, which I really do not want or need. I would much rather see the Hotel be put to use to provide money for charity.

If the hotel were to partner with the right charity sales would be over $ 1 Million a year.

I am not overly picky about what charity the money goes to but I do have some preferences. I would prefer that the money go to feeding people in the Third World, or preserving habitat in the the Third World.

I would also like to set up other Eco Tourism Hotels in the Third world. That goes hand in hand with feeding the people. If they see that preserving the land around them brings in tourists and tourist dollars then they will want to preserve the land and the plants and animals as well. And if most of the profits from the resorts go back into the community then it will help the community to prosper.

I am a Youth worker, working in a refuge for the homeless. if i were you i would donate it to the child protection deparment for medium term (up to two years) supported accommodation. for ages 15-21, wish i had that offer here in NSW Australia....... just never enough accommodation.

Peck a charity and sign over the deed to them  with a contract for management of it to you.

I respect what it is you're trying to do (wish I had the income to give more), but I suggest you contact the American Red Cross or another reputable organization for their advise (not necesserily to give it to them). Or even the Salvation Army.

I've worked with non-profits (who claim to be non-profits), so just be careful with whom you choose...

Personally I think it is a great idea what you want to do for deprived children.

I have setup a charity website called www.giveaeuro.com especially for to help the orphans of Lesotho.

My brother the late Professor Nessan Ronan spent over 20 years in Malawi,Botswana and Lesotho teaching and educating these children and when he died last Sept I had to go to Lesotho to sort out his affairs and saw first hand the poverty and hunger that prevails there. So to honor his name I decided to start this charity to do my bit for these less fortunate children.

I have given you so websites to check out and there are many more just like them.  As for the Salvation Army I would not give them anything.  Because if you do not word it just right the money goes say 14% to the National Head Quarters, 10% to housing the officers, and maybe 20% to were you wanted it to go!

But why do you not want to help the people in the USA first?   As we have homeless, hungry children and elderly here.  We have seniors going without medicine they need.  Children who can not go to a doctor because their parents do not have insurance!  Children living on the streets because they do not have a home.

Another thought would be to give a non profit the earnings for a year then the next year pick another one.  That way you help more than one cause.

I am involve in Charity for the many third world countries.

The founder is not for advertising nor to be proud of what we do. The organization is a non-profit registered in California. I will check your website. It will be very nice that you can help and accomplish of what you wish to do in giving.

May I suggest you contact the Santa Fe Kiwanis Club (zozobra.com/kiwanis). If it is not something their foundation can work with they probably know several local non-profits that would be interested. You could also contact Kiwanis International at kiwanis.org.
