Rnd 2

Hdc in each st down to first end. Work 2 Hdc in the 2 end sts, and then Hdc in ea st down to other end. Work 2 Hdc in ea of the 2 end sts. Do not connect at end of rounds, just continue working Hdc in ea st to create a seamless bag.

Rnd 3

Hdc in each st down to first end. Work 2 Hdc in the 3 end sts, and then Hdc in ea st down to other end. Work 2 Hdc in ea of the 3 end sts.

Rnd 4 - 30

Hdc in ea st around entire bag. End so at side of bag to begin flap.

Row 1 (Flap)

Ch 2, turn. Hdc in ea st across back of bag only to create flap.

(Crochet less one st on either side of back to bag to create a smooth flap overlay.)

Row 2 - 15

Ch 2, turn. Hdc in ea st across for flap. ( I did 15 rows before dec’s to create a tapered flap.)

Row 16 - 26

Ch 2, turn. Work 2 Hdc together over next sts (1 dec made) then Hdc in ea st to lasts 2 sts of row. Work 2 Hdc together over last 2 sts to create one dec.

Row 27

Ch 2, turn. Work Hdc in ea st. Finish off and weave under ends.

thanks!!!!

  1. I'll take a stab at it:

    Round 2

Make one half double crochet stitch in each stitch down to the first end stitch. Work two half double crochet stitches in each of the two end stitches. Do not connect the stitches at ends of rounds.  You just continue working half double crochet stitches around the other side, and work two half double crochet stitches in each of the two end stitches at that end.

    Round 3

Half double crochet in each stitch down to the first end stitch. Work two half double crochet stitches in each of the three end stitches  and continue around down the other side to the other end.  Work two half double crochet stitches in each of those three end stitches.

    Round 4 through 30

Half double crochet in each stitch around the bag. (One side, the end stitches, the other side, and the end stitches at the end of that side. Do that for rows 4 through 30.  In other words, just go round and round the bag, making one half double crochet stitch in every stitch, until you've made 30 rows in all from the start of the bag.

End your work on row 30 at one side of the bag (where the end stitches are).

    The flap:

    Row 1 of the flap

Chain 2 and turn your work.  Make one half double crochet in each stitch across the back of the bag only, skipping one stich at each end.

    Rows 2 through 15

Chain 2 and turn your work.   Make one half double crochet in each stitch across the flap for the next 14 rows, until you have 15 rows done for the flap.

    Rows 16 through 26

Chain 2 and turn your work.  (This is where you start tapering the flap.) Work two half double crochets together in each of the next two stitches.  Then make one half double crochet in each stitch across until you get to the last two stitches in the row.  In those last two stiches, work two half double crochets together.

Do that for ten rows altogether. That will make one decrease at each end of the ten rows.

    Row 27

Chain two and turn your work.  Make one half double crochet in each stitch across.  Finish off your work, cut your yarn and weave in the ends of the yarn.
