Can someone help me find spider info on orb weavers?

I found this orange orb weaver in my yard and i was trying to find info on it. i know nothing of spiders and i wanted to make sure that they aren't a danger to my family or pets.

  1. The orb-weaver spiders (family Araneidae) are the builders of spiral wheel-shaped webs often found in gardens, fields and forests. They have eight similar eyes, legs hairy or spiny and no stridulating organs. The family is cosmopolitan, including many well-known large or brightly colored garden spiders.
