I bought a table with a small drawer in the middle at a yard sale today in hopes to use it for a vanity. The drawer in the middle is a little crooked and when opened it seems to fall off the track... almost as if the drawer is no longer wide enough for the opening... please help!

  1. The track is broken ... Take drawer out and look.  You can put new tracks in.   They sell them at hardware stores.

  2. Need more info about the track(s) Is it the kind that is on the bottom of the drawer. And slides into a piece attached to the center of the carcass?Or are they side mounted?Pls be specific

  3. Loosen all but 1 of the screws on the track at the back of the drawer that's crooked-carefully hold it up and re insert it, pull it out almost all the way, hold it in a place where it will work best-jamb a tooth pick in the wholes before starting a new one at the front, try again-ok? do rest of middle screws. You will need a awl or ice pick to start new hole. If the drawer is a bit too narrow, add some cardboard behind the track as needed-shout be 1/2" wide space btwn. drwer and cab.

  4. take the drawer out, stand in front of where the drawer was and look (without wearing sunglasses).

Be in a light place so you can see. Look at the track. Is it missing? Is it there but broken?

How is the track attached, is it via screws? Do you have screwdriver? It could be a flat head or a cross head. Apply even force and at the same time turn your wrist ANTI CLOCK WISE meaning the opposite side from the clock turning side.

Don't lose the screws, they might be needed later.

Go to hardware store with the broken track and ask them for a similar one.

I always lubricate wooden drawers tracks with canle was or better, with soap. (nice smelling one).
