Can someone help me get this thing online?

Question

i just bought a dell Inspirion 1300 laptop, and when i connected it to the the internet router i have in the house, the laptop says its connected, but it wont load internet pages. it says the server is not found, meaning much to my dismay, that the LAN is not being picked up. i re-loaded the drivers for the LAN card, and reset the router itself, but i am still not getting the net on there. I'm using Fire fox for the browser, its the same as the other two computers in the house, but the laptop is just not working. can it be a hardware problem? and if so, what can i do to fix this?

PS - Internet connections on the other computers are just fine.

I think its not a computer hardware problem.... i think this problem assciated with router's H/W..........please try other ruoter or try other converter if u r using a network.....with other server.........

first, make sure that the tcp-ip settings of your LAN card is set to "obtain ip address automatically" same as with your dns. these could be found in the properties of your LAN card under network connections.

if it's already set to obtain the ip address automatically and dns also automatically, check if you have proxy enabled in your browser. for firefox, go to tools -> options -> advanced and click on the network tab. click on settings under connection and make sure that the "no proxy" box is checked.

if this still doesn't work, there could be something wrong with your winsock. just google "winsock fix" and you will find several solutions for this.

if your gonna connect it wirelessly. then put the wireless card in. turn off the laptop/pc. then turn off the router. and then turn off your internet box too. the one that connects to your router. once all are off. turn the internet box on, then router, then laptop.  should be fine. if you want to switch from wireless, to lan. your gonna have to repeat the steps above again.
