Question:

Can someone help me identify this houseplant??

Any suggestions how to best care for it?? Does it light light, how often to water, etc. Thank you for your help on this!!

  1. It is a bromeliad, you don't need to water the soil you put water in to the vase of the plant. I keep mine in bright light near an sunny window or under the florecent light.


  2. That is a bromiliad.We grow ours in pots outside. I have seen them in the open but ours are under the pergola. Put water in the leaves & flowers to water them. They originate from rainforests in S. America I think.

  3. Hi, you are the PROUD owner of a Bromeliad.

    It likes some water poured into the center of the flower, 1/2 cup should be enough, and the same amount into the soil mix once a week.

    No more than that unless you live in an oven!

    Also mist it once or twice a week.

    Please keep it out of direct sunlight or it could scald.

    But the worst thing you can do is OVER water it.
