I found a vine growing in the back yard (in Illinois)...it has a heart shaped leaf and the vine seems to be covered in a hair of sorts. There are no large flowers to identify as of yet, but it almost appears as if they may be starting soon...is there any way to help identify it?

  1. At your local plant store, Lowes, Home Depot  plant department they have a plant index. Ortho makes the best. This guide has all plants listed for your area in the index. You can bring a sample of the plant in and compare to the index. The plant book will have a description and pictures and all diseases and how to care for the plant. You can also go to the plant dept. of the Smithsonian and look at photos of all plants indigenous to your area; on-line.

  2. I found a website that may help you identify the vine. Here is the website: http://www.discoverlife.org/ . Click on IDnature guides and I think you can find your way from there. Hope this helps!

  3. Look for the morning glory vine.  The flowers are red or orange and rather small for a fast-growng vine.
