Everytime I put the pc on right when its starting up all the programs, desktop icons, I get a pop up screen and it says on the title "QTTask.exe - Application Error" and then inside it has a Red circle with a X in the middle and next to it, it says "The Application failed to initialize properly (0x0000022). Click OK to terminate the application." I click ok but this always pops up when I start the computer. How can I fix it>? what is it? thanks

  1. It is a result of a trojan that your PC has picked up and is trying to run the application.

The best way to get rid of it is to find where the application installed itself and delete it from that directory. if all else fails, do a system restore to the date before the problem started. and be sure to empty your temp files as it will be stored in there  and it will reinstall itself if not removed .

    Hope this info helps .

QTTask  is a file added on byQuick Timee. an Apple application and is probably not compatible with PCs Windows.

  2. This is a quicktime task that helps Apple's quicktime display software.

Your quick time player has a startup problem. From the run line, run msconfig and then go into the startup tab and uncheck qtask and restart the computer. When it comes back up, it will prompt you something to the effect of "the startup has changed do you want to modify it" click "dont show again" and say no. Your qtask error should go away.

You can also reinstall quicktime by going to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ and installing the latest version.

  3. Its a worm, run anti-malware, pronto
