what is the factors that have resulted in Florida becoming a popular holiday destination? the answer can be supported using examples and statistics.

As I mentioned before, the lovely climate and proximity to the ocean.  These two factors led to the establishment of the many tourist amenities that now exist and add to its desirability as a holiday destination.

The weather is rarely below the 70's even in the winter below Frostproof (a city).

Beautiful beaches, hundreds and hundreds of miles of them to choose from

Incredible number of lakes for those that like lakes or lake fishing

Deep sea fishing

(in several cities) theme parks galore including water parks

Incredible county and state parks usually built around a lake or beach

Ft Desoto in St. Petersburg is or was this year or last year the best beach in the US

Hundreds of miles of bike trails

Interesting things like the oldest city and the Fountain of Youth in St Augustine

The southern most part of the US in Key West

ALLIGATORS and panthers

swamp boating

The Everglades

resorts AND "Mom and Pop" hotels

There is not much you can't do in Florida except ski...Oh but you can do that at Bill Jackson Sporting Goods (simulated ;) )

Oranges and so many other things.

History is big almost everywhere people have been coming to Florida vacationing since the 1800's.  The railroad was the invention that brought the most change and people.  The wealthy used to have their own railroad cars and they would travel here for the winter with their whole "household" including servants etc.  the largest wooden structure still standing in the world is the Belleview Biltmore a hotel in Clearwater/Belleair that is still operating.  It has a great tour that shows the rails still under the hotel where the cars pulled in, a well restored resort!.

Don't forget the many indian reservations with casinos.
