I have just had to re-install my anti virus software on my laptop as it was integrating properly with Windows Security Centre. I was advised to block some startup programmes. Now the virus software is working properly do I need to unblock these programmes as there is an icon in the bottom right hand corner reminding me they are blocked.

What are the programs that it has asked you to block. If you trust your anti-virus software then no need to unblock them again. It might have suggested something good for you!
