I am travelling from Kings Cross to London Paddinton by tube- I've checked and think i must take the Hammersmith and City line to get there.

My question is once I'm there, are there normal trains from Paddington becuase i then am supposed to take a GNER train to Reading Station from Paddington?

Thanks

  1. Yes Paddington Is A Main Line Station

  2. Although you can take the Hammersmith & City Line there is a long walk from this line to the station complex.... it would be better to take a circle line train (yellow).

Once there you'll find numerous departures with GNER to Reading just check the departures board.

  3. there are normal trains from Paddington

  4. there is the tube station in paddington where underground trains run and there is the British Rail as well. when getting out at Paddingt, just follow the signs.

  5. Kings Cross to Paddington is on circle line direct, Paddington to  Reading very frequent service.

  6. If you've already got tickets for the train to Reading (and it WON'T be a GNER one!) if you use the "Hammersmith and City" line (with "Hammersmith via Shepherds Bush" on the front and on the indicators) from Kings Cross, you will find yourself on a footbridge right across the middle of the main line station when you get off and it will be easy to reach the Reading train.

If you travel by Circle line you will have a fairly long walk before you get to your Reading train - so it's your choice, but I know which one I would choose ! - !

  7. Yes once you reach Paddington follow the signs to the main line station

  8. Paddington is a national mainline station which means that the trains used travelled over ground and not underground like the tube system.

All the mainline overhead travel above ground so there will be nothing to worry. about.

  9. You cant get to Reading by GNER but there are plenty of trains from Paddington to Reading.

The Circle line will also take you to Paddington jump on which ever comes first and then follow the signs to the main line station.

  10. You can take either the Hammersmith and City Line, or the Circle line (eastbound) from King's Cross to Paddington. I would take the first that arrives - there are swings and roundabouts as to which will take you to the most convenient part of the mainline station. Why do you think you should take a GNER train to Reading, however? That TOC never has, abd never will, serve Paddington. Are you arriving at King's Cross on a GNER ticket booked through to Reading by any chance? If so, don't worry - it will be accepted by 1st Great Western which operates the frequent services out of Paddington to Reading.

  11. The tube station is at the mainline station, mind you will probably find that you will have to walk from the country end of the platform to the other end of the station to find which platform a Reading Train is running from. Ask for Fred Higgs or James Winter, James is the Station Manager & Fred (depending on his shift) is the Duty Station Manager. I used to work with them & say Joolz says Hi (they will know who I am)
