Please remember that Jakarta....as with the rest of Indonesia....is suffering flooding and mudslides due to massive deforestation.  Heavy rainfall is common-place there and without ground cover, flooding and land slides become severe threats.

Nobody knows with any certainty what would be the amount of sea level rise over the next few decades because we don't know what will be the future course of carbon emissions.

However many scientists now agree that even if make a dramatic reduction in the coming years, 1-2 meters of sea level rise is near certain.
