Can someone help me understand my dad better?

Question

For many years now my dad's had an Ebay business. Cause Greedbay can't stop being shifty and evil, his business went down the drain and it doesn't make enough money to pay the bills. He ended up getting Type 1 Diabetes because of the stress and anger from all the customer's demands and ebay's ridiculous fees and was days away from dying had we not dragged him to hospital against his will. (He has a fear of doctors and all that.) Thing is, he refuses to shut down his business even though my mum's working now too and I am. He doesn't have any friends, no social life, his life revolves around work. Everytime he comes talks to me its about his latest accomplishment against fighting ebay and virtually nothing else, to me its seems too obessive. The business clearly has done him more harm then good yet he continues to run the very thing that destries his mental and physical health????????? What's wrong with him?

It sounds like he put alot of himself into the business ,I think its hard sometimes for people to let go.Your family should keep urging him to find something else not with  anger but more with concern.Maybe he feels that he has no other option  and his anger is keeping him stuck. It took a long time for my dad to give up on his business and I know hes stubborn! Best Wishes to you and yours

I know it is very upsetting because my situation is the same like yours...talk to a counsellar, they will know better. Ur father needs to undergo some kind of psychological therapy (don't think I forgot that ur dad doesn't like going to hospitals).

Hey, he just wants to do something.  If he did not do E-bay, then what are his alternatives?  It seems like this is his only hobby/job/obsession/passion in life right now, so let it be.  As long as he doesn't drive himself crazy over it.

well ..try to spend some more time with him...say so that you love your dad too much..and you dont wish him to be so stressed.

Bring in some movies or go to a movie..to watch...ask him saying you dont want to watch alone and would prefer to go out with your dad and watch...like that...

Your dad didn't get Diabetes because of his stress and anger.  That wouldn't cause Diabetes.  I know all about Diabetes because my dad had it.  He recently passed away.  Your dad seems obsessed with this business venture.  He needs to give it up and take care of himself.  He needs to enjoy his life and find some hobbies.  Tell him that you don't want to hear about ebay anymore and that he needs to give it up.  He should seek therapy if he can't let this go.  This isn't a healthy situation for him.

tell him that all this condition is hurting u and tell him this The business clearly has done him more harm then good yet he continues to run the very thing that destries his mental and physical health?????????what u said and tell him to get a real job answer mine pls
