Question:

Can someone help me with Affirmative and Negative Spanish verbs?

I'm taking an advanced honors Spanish class for Highscool (10th grade) and I have a packet to do over the Summer.

But on one page we have to write verbs in the affirmative and negative.

I don't understand how to do this, can someone explain it to me?

Or tell me what the answers would be, and I'll probably be able to figure it out that way.

Anything/any answers would help!

Verbs:

Poner

Estudiar

Beber

Ir

Tocar

Escribir

Tener

Lavar

Vivir

The example is: Hablar

affirm. habla

neg. no hables

Thanks in advance!

  2. Okay, so you want affirmative and negative commands.  Do this, don't do that.

To form the affirmative tú commands, you use the third person.  Except for ir, venir, poner, tener, salir, hacer, decir, and ser.  Those are ve, ven, pon, ten, sal, haz, di, and sé.

To form the negative tú commands, you take the first person, singular form of the verb, drop the -o, and add the opposite vowel ending.

I'll show you a few of yours.

Poner.  Remember that this is an irregular one.

    + Pon

The yo-form, or first person singular, is pongo.  So, drop the -o: pong-.  Poner is an -er verb, so use the -ar tú ending.

    -  No pongas

    Estudiar.

    + Estudia

    -  No estudies

    Beber.

    + Bebe

    -  No bebas

Ir.  Ir is irregular, remember.  It's actually irregular in the negative as well.

    + Ve

    -  No vayas

    Tocar.

    + Toca

    -  No toques

Notice the change in the negative.  The yo form is toco!  But if you use the -er/-ir ending, the c would make an s sound.  So, to keep the hard c sound, you change it to qu.

Remember the -car, -gar, and -zar endings, because those change.

If there is a soft sound after a g, it makes a sound like the English h.  To keep the hard sound, you change it to -gu.  You can't have a soft sound after a z, so it changes to a c.

Let me give you an example of those, since you have no more of those on your list.

    Cargar.

    + Carga

    -  No cargues

    Almorzar.

    + Almuerza

    -  No almuerces

I think you should be able to manage the rest.  If you need more help, feel free to email me.  It's pngul1589@sbcglobal.net

  6. for affirm just put it in the el,ella, ustd form. (pone, estudia, bebe, etc)

for negative put it in tu form but do so as if it is an ar verb if er or ir, and er verb if ar-kinda confusing,so here's some examples :

    poner(er verb)=pones=ponas

    tocar(ar verb)=tocas=toces

    vivir(ir verb)= vives=vivas

    No stem changing with commands!!!

if u r still confused just search it on google

    hope this helps
