Can someone help me with Direct Variation?

Ok i need a very solid definition of direct variation, i don't need the formula i dont need to know that k is the constant. i need a very easy to understand definition.

Direct variation means that the rate of change between x and y stays the same. As x changes, so does y, and the ratio of change always remains the same.
