Can someone help me with Gimp?

Question

I'm having trouble with the magnetic selector on Gimp. I'm trying to cut out a whole person from a picture and I need it to be very precise. Every time I use the magnetic selector, it only selects either a small area of the leg or the whole picture in little pieces. Am I doing something wrong? Help would be awesome, thanks.

I'm not sure if you are talking about the Free Select tool, the Scissors tool, or the Paths tool.  In the latest version of GIMP, there's no Magnetic option for the Free Select (lasso) tool.   The tool that the poster above me is describing is from Adobe Photoshop.

Are you shift clicking? And are you sure you are using the magnetic tool? sounds like you are using the magic wand. The magnetic took should look like a lasso with a magnet next to it. just click once and then you should have your start point, then outline around the picture carefully. Good luck
