Can someone help me with a NAVY question?

I am 27, have a B.A(GPA 2.4), no criminal background what so ever, and am thinking about the NAVY. I have had some difficulties finding a job I am passionate about, so I am feeling this may be something I am looking for. Do you think I can be an officer with my GPA?

Thanks in advance

  1. Talk to an Officer Recruiter.  I don't think there will be a problem, as GPA's don't really matter after Academia.  If you have a B.A. and are under 32 years old You meet the basic qualifications.  However you don't say what your degree was in, so you need to check with a Navy recruiter to see what you qualify for.

    CPO US Navy

  2. You can try applying for OCS though I'm not sure you would have a good chance since in the navy you need a 3.0 to be competetive.

You should speak to a navy officer recruiter and they can tell you how you fare.

  3. no.  for one you only have a 2.4~ minimum requirements are a 2.0, but the practical upshot is, anything less than 3.5 won't even get looked at.  strike 2 is the BA and not a BS.  The Navy wants hard science degrees.  Strike 3 is age.. you only have a very small window before you are too old for most commissioning programs.

you could enlist at the paygrade of E3 and once in try and seek commissioning from within..either through OCS, or putting in the time for  LDO/Warrant.

  4. It's highly doubtful you'll be accepted for an officer program with a 2.4 GPA.  In any case, the navy uses officer recruiters to recruit officers, these guys don't work at the regular recruiting stations.  However, you can get the phone number to contact one from a regular navy recruiter.
