  1. How much do you weigh?  You are probably fine the way you are, I had baby fat until I was 15.  I know plenty of people your age who feel less than confident about their size because the media puts such pressure on young girls to be thin.  So you want to become healthier?  That's great, but please realize that you will NEVER look like a magazine model.  Seriously -- they're like 6 feet tall and many of them have eating disorders and really aren't healthy.  Anyway, if you truly do have your heart set on truly becoming healthier, weight loss may be a side effect but certainly shouldn't be your primary goal.  If you want to live better, here's my advice:

    1) Ditch any "weight loss" or "exercise plans" you might have come across before.  These are for old, boring people.  Really!  You will never stick to exercise if you don't like to do it!  And to go "on a diet" means that one day you will go off it.  Diets give quick weight loss because they are severely low in calories.  So much so that you will gain everything back -and probably more- once you get off.

2)You know what's healthy.  If it is naturally found in nature it's probably good for you.  Cheeze-Its are not found in nature.  Pizza is not found in nature.  Any pre-packaged, processed TV dinners, sugary cereals, and candy bars are not real food.  Please tell your parents you want to start eating healthier meals.  They will probably be impressed!  Throw out your chips and ice cream and bring in the fruits and veggies.  Fruits are the world's best snack food.  Pack an apple in your purse wherever you go or sneak one into the movies to eat instead of their fat-laden popcorn.  And McDonald's -- please, if you care about your health or the well fare of the thousands of animals slaughtered to eat there every year, don't even look at it.

3)Never count calories.  You will become obsessed with it.  Your body has a really neat trick for stopping yourself from eating too much.  Eat only when hungry.  Stop when you're full.  It's that simple!  It takes your brain 20 minutes to get the "full" signal, so most people keep on eating even though they've had enough.  Start eating very, very slowly.  Chew until your food is mashed up.  Sounds gross, I know, but it helps with digestion.  And never eat in front of the TV.

4)Start eating only fruit for breakfast.  People put far too much emphasis on eating a big breakfast.  Also people eat too big a supper.  Lunch should be your biggest meal.  Eating a lot for breakfast makes your body work extra hard to digest and leaves you feeling sluggish early in the morning.  Eat as much fruit as you want till you're full before school.  Apples, grapes, peaches, kiwi, bananas -- mix it up.  It will be hard at first as your body has probably gotten used to cereals and what-not, but it will get easier.

5)ALWAYS start your lunch with veggies.  Salads, coleslaw, sauerkraut, carrots, whatever (no potatoes though -- go for the green.)  This will fill you up so that you won't stuff yourself with whatever you're eating next.  Also it cleans out your body.  Health starts from within.  Eat whatever you usually do for supper, but just try to make it healthier.  Also eat smaller portions.  Listen to your body and stop when you are full.

6)Start exercising.  I know *shutter*.  I always hated gym class.  But hey, exercising does not have to be a chore.  Nor should it -- in fact I strongly recommend against doing something you won't want to keep up with.  School sports are always a great place to start looking.  Basketball, Softball, volleyball, track, whatever.  There are plenty of activities outside of school as well.  Karate, yoga (find a good book on it at Barnes and Nobles), Tae Kwon Do, rock climbing, you name it.  Whatever it is be sure it's something that gets your heart going and gets you tired out and keep it up for at least 30 minutes.  It will get easier, I promise!  There is no such thing as spot reduction.  This is an old myth.  You will lose weight everywhere evenly.  There aren't any "leg" or "arm" exercises as such, just get active and your body will do the rest. Don't worry about what other people think either.  I wasted years of my life doing that and it wasn't till later I realized it was all for nothing! Walk everywhere and start taking long walks a few times a week.  It really helps.

Just resist the urge to stop by the gas station or general store to pick up snacks!  This is when that apple will come in handy...

7)Drink lots of pure water.  It helps clean you out.  Drop the soda pop.  It really does rot away your insides and makes you fat.  Also check "juice" for aspartame -- it's pure poison to your body.  Go for 100% fruit juice instead.  Water is best when possible.

8)Last but not least, take it easy. This will not happen overnight. April is a good goal. Just remember skinny doesn't equal happiness or health.  I was an anorexic -- skinny as could be but also very sickly and felt awful.  Then I learned about good nutrition, stopped torturing myself at the gym, and started having fun!  Take a look at the DASH pyramid: http://www.ceche.org/programs/eatinggree...

  2. A couple of years ago I was struggling to lose weight as well.  I was tricked into trying various fads and gimmicks too many times and my patience wore extremely thin along with my wallet.  I came across this oolong weight loss tea on in the internet, and I was very skeptical but they offered a free trial.  It helped me lose the last twenty pounds I needed to.

I explained my experiences with it here.  www.wuyiexposed.com

    Best of luck.

  4. ok you re far too young to worry to much about this stuff but it is great to be healthy . It's good to want to feel good about yourself as long as you don't get to concerned about what you think you should look like we are all different sizes but we do need to look after our bodies . You re young and still growing so don't e too strict with your diet i don't know what size you are but maybe you could speak to an adult who knows you about your image and as they ll see your true size and maybe you don't need to lose weight but there's no harm in ex cerise as long as you don't over do it . get involved with more sport in school if you're confident enough or take lots of walks with parents , these new wii fits are good too if you can get one , jogging around a local track 20-30 mins maybe two times a week , trampoline , swimming , just try and keep active and play as many sports as you can nothing too intense and don't over do it with unhealthy snacks but you're young and abit of what you fancy does you good if you're ody needs sugar eat a choclate abar tthat'sfine just careful how much . Once you're more active you 'll look and feel much better just remember to learn to enjoy being you and don't compare yourself to others we're not robots .

  5. I'm sorry darling but you are 13 years of age! Far too young to be stressing about your weight
