Can someone help me with barebones?

Question

I'm looking to build myself a computer and was wondering if i bought a barebone kit what exactly i would need to make it run.

i just need to know what other hardware i need.

Cpu cooler, hard drive, optical drive. And obviously an Operating System, mouse,  keyboard and monitor.
