Can someone help me with my Algebra 2?

is this right?

its absolute value

I have 11 + 2x=5

2x= -11+5

2x= - 6

x=3

and for the negative side I have x= -8

Can someone tell me if I am working out the problem right?

  1. the answer is -3 not 3


  2. you're correct up till x=3. It's x=-3. If you're dividing the #, and it's negative, it all depends on if your dividing by a positive # or or negative #.

  3. nah its wrong, it should be 2x = -3


  4. it's 11 + 2x=5

    2x= 5-11

    2x= -6

    x= -6 : 2

    x= -3
