  1. i love mac. i have at least 40 or so shadows. doesn't matter what colors you use, but a general basic way to do your eyeshadow is to use a light color on the inner lid, and the darkest color in your crease. you can also use a medium shade in the middle of your lid. and alwaysssssss use a hilighter ..a nice shade like shroom (which i know alot of girls use as theyre favorite hilighter) right under your eyebrow, on the bone there. it makes a HUGE difference when you apply eyeshadow. and please always make sure you blend your colors well otherwise it will look very messy and unpolished. this is just a basic technique..as you get more experienced you will start to branch out with color ideas and smokey eyes etc.

to perfect your technique go on youtube and look at some live tutorials. personally i prefer picture tutorials when looking for ideas on youtube..some great youtubers that do picture tutorials are queenofblendingMUA and monroemisfit makeup. as for live tutorials (where you can actually see them put their makeup on) makeupgeekTV has a variety of tutorials, panacea81 is also very good at makeup. i also love aboywearingmakeup. for tips and techniques that has anything to do with cosmetics, go to enkoremakeup. personally i dont like his technique but he has alot of great tips.

keep in mind that alot of shadows don't look the same on your skin as they do on the website. my recommendation is go to the store (if youre really lost you can always ask the MUAs there to help you out) but you should try mixing colors on your hand as an idea for your eye. try out the different colors and put them next to other colors ur interested in. i always do that when im looking for new colors.

as for pinks..star violet is really pretty. stars and rockets is my favorite purple/pink eyeshadow. its purple but has a pink shimmer to it. freshwater is my favorite blue eyeshadow (i feel bad even saying that because i love so many of them lol) but its a great medium blue with a very nice shimmer. swimming and humid are great greens. sumpuous olive is very nice too..when youre going for a more muted natural look. ialways pair sumpuous olive with a nice gold and i love the look of it! wondergrass (from the cshock collection) is also an amazing green...however you might have some difficulty finding it.

i'm still not sure EXACTLY what youre look for..pink blue green or earthy colors? that sumpuous olive/gold look is very earthy. or a muted shade on the inner lid with a nice brown in your crease is very earthy. youcould even top it off with a brown liner (i use mac fluidline in dipdown)

    anyways, hope i helped out.

edit: i agree with the girl who said about the primer. you don't have to buy an actual primer...a paint pot from mac has many different uses (try it in painterly, bare study or indian wood..get the one closest to your lid color..or if you want it as a base for a dark eye get a dark colored one like blackground)...i also love mac paints as a base.. i use bare canvas and bamboom. as you expand your collection you'll get different bases for different looks. i LOVE urban decay's primer potion though. its a great nude base for eyeshadow, its about 20$cdn at sephora. if you don't want to spend the money on those...just use your concealer as a base! in my opinion it doesn't work as well..but it still works!

  2. If you go to the looks part of the MAC website it gives you some great ideas:

Trial and error is generally the best way.. if you think it looks good then wear it, if the colours suit each other.. you've got it right!

I generally tend to stay warm or cool, keeping blues, whites , hot pink and purple tones together. Warmer browns with gold, creams, greens and orange tones.

If you start nude with a warm or cool tone and then layer on top of that you will have a matching look!

Try earty green with a smokey lash line, blue with a pale tear duct and pink blended with a warmer base colour.

    Experiment!x

  3. MAC is for girls who like to look like trash!! You have many more options.

  4. I don't have experience with pink, green or blue colors, but I wear a lot of browns.  I use Brule on my entire lid, highlight the browbone with Shroom, and Omega in the crease.  For an evening look I use these plus Brun in the outer corner of my lids.  And a base has great staying power.
