  1. I could help you but need some more info on the router...What Make and Model please...Smiles Nighthawk

  2. If it came with a disk, use that. It should guide you through a process and at one point you are asked if would like to use a password. Uhm...You also may be able to download an application from their website, but I'm not %100 sure on that.

For the password, the program may ask you if you would like it to make one for you. This will generate a completely random password. It's almost impossible to crack this one, but it's also impossible to memorize it. You may want to make one of your own so you can remember it. If you make a strong password either way should work fine.

If you find that you can't find the password at any point, and thereby can't get online, there should be a reset button on the back. You will have to push it in with a pen or something and hold it for a couple seconds. It will then go to defualt settings (SSID- Lynksys, unsecured, etc.)

    Hope I helped.

Edit-Okay, today I had to do this due to file sharing issues.

Now, what you can do is use the browser based configuration. http://192.168.1.1/ is the address for the linksys router I have. Yours may be different, so do a google search for it's make and model and how to configure it.

Once you get to the configuration page there should be some tabs near the top. Click on wireless>wireless security>enable. Then you will have to decide what kind of security to use. Like I said before, if you create a strong enough pass word it will be good. If you want you can use WEP and generate one. If you want to make your own password, choose WPA pre-shared key and enter a strong password.

Then click on Save Settings and you're good.

PS-I like to create weird SSIDs so that people scanning for networks will say "WTF?" I'm crazy like that.

  3. 1.Disconnect and reset the whole thing.

    2. Start from there and re-setup.
