Can someone help me with my math problems?

30 - [9 + 4(8 - 5)] = ??

2[5 + 2(8 - 6)] = ??

These are order of operations... i was in clas and takin notes, i just couldnt figure it out, help?

  1. Ok these are easy with a little practice.  First, anything in brackets is done first.  You have the [  ] brackets but you can see there are brackets inside those.  So the first thing to do is subtract the 8-5.  so now you have 30-[9+4(3)]=?  Next, you still need to get rid of the brackets within the brackets.  So you would multiply the 4(3).  30-[9+12]=?  Now you still have brackets so add the 9+12.  10-[21]=?

    The brackets can now disapear because there are no more + - / signs inside.  30-21=9.  Try the other one one your own.  Remember.  Inside out.  Start on the inside and work out.  Hope it helps
