Can someone help me with my probation situation...?

I got into a little bit of trouble and have to do 30 hours of community service, and I have no problem with that.

I was placed at a thrift store and after 5 hours the manager told me he would write off my hours if I preformed oral s*x on him. I am not trash, and because I am in trouble with the law, people are treating me like trash. Anyways, I told my PO and he said that this is the 2nd complaint about this guy, and that they didn't believe the first girl, so they are "looking into it".

Because of this I got transfer ed to another thrift store, but this dealt with house furnishing, appliances and building materials, the people are great! They are moving so it was perfect time for them to use me, and me to knock out my hours quick.

Here is the problem, yesterday I tore my rota tor cuff while I was there reaching for something heavy off a shelf, I can still work, (I only have 5 more hours) but the doctor told me today I may have to have surgery. If I have to pay for it, that's fine, but should I have to, or should the thrift store, or the county. Help me please.

I think I would have been better off doing jail time!! LOL

  1. Well, technically, you were there at a job site doing a job. No matter the reason for the job, you should not have to pay for it. My guess is the store, because it happened on their premises and they likely have insurance for this sort of thing. But I'm not a lawyer so I can't give any actual legal advice. Try calling OSHA and asking them.

  2. I think you should have to pay for it. You weren't there at the thrift store as a volunteer, you were there as a punishment for a crime. Pay for it yourself. You will feel much bretter about yourself for taking some responsibility for yourself.

  3. So basically what your saying is if it weren't for bad luck , you wouldn't have any luck at all right??

Well I'd have to say either the store you were working at when the accident happened would have to cover you, you didn't have to apply for the job correct? If they aren't responisble then the county where you were sentenced should have to pay for the surgery.. And if I were you, in all respect I wouldn't use a Public Defender, and the reason being the guy or gal don't work for you, he's working for the county there and basically he gets a pay check either way.. Thanks to our loyal tax dollars at work..

Best of luck and I'd see if someone is going to pay for that surgery.. hope you get to feeling better... take care! let me know what happens if you would k?

  4. Contact the thrift store and make sure they have filed a report with OSHA.  They are required to report all on the job injuries.  It doesn't matter if you were doing community service or not, you were still hurt on the job and the Thrift store should pay your medical bills. Don't feel like a second class citizen, it happens to the best of people.  Good luck.
