Can someone help me with some website things?

I am creating a retail website and I need dont know how to do the basket and check out and paypal thing. If you dont know can you direct me to a small website selling things - someone I could email to ask. I couldn't think of anything.

Any ideas? Easy points!

  1. I'm not sure about the basket and checkout but I do know you do the paypal thing from your paypal account.


  2. Since you'll be financially (and legally) liable for what happens on the site, why not let someone who's had some experience write it and you learn what the pitfalls are.

  3. If you have little to no practical experience with HTML / CSS, you are best off using one of the canned shopping cart applications offered by Web hosts such as GoDaddy.

    If you have some HTML / CSS experience, and you want to run your own shopping cart, give ZenCart a try. It is probably the best supported open source shopping cart and inventory management software out there, but it is not exactly easy to use.

    Finally, I generally recommend that people consider an eBay store. The drive-by traffic you get from an eBay store is well worth the cost unless your sales are negligible.

  4. Google will have answers but make sure you fully understand ssl/tls and CA's. We don't want little script kiddies stealing our bank info. =)
