  1. Just tell her, and if she says no, explain why you are vegetarian. You shouldn't need help writing a letter. If you want to be vegetarian, you know why, so just tell her.

  2. I wouldn't write her a letter telling her the kind of things SHE can do for YOU when YOU made the decision to be vegetarian. Do not ask her to change HER lifestyle! If you're mature enough to choose this for yourself, you can offer to cook your own meals and pack your own lunch. Sorry so harsh, but this is what my mom said to me when I "came out" as a vegetarian, lol. I pretty much felt like c**p after she said that. :)

    Some easy vegetarian foods that are also substantial are any kind of pasta, (If you can't figure out how to make a meatless sauce, my mom uses 2 cans cream of mushroom soup, 2 cans diced tomatoes, and lots of garlic and sometimes ground chili pepper, and you can add green peppers, or other veggies and/or chunks of tofu or boca burger) chili with no meat, (3 cans each of : dark red kidney beans, light red kidney beans, chili beans, and diced tomatoes) and potatoes (you can do SO much with potatoes. it's also a good alternative to hot dogs when you have a barbecue or something.). When we have bonfires or go camping, I bring a sandwich maker, (the cast-iron thing on a stick you use to make hobo pies or w/e) and make grilled cheese, it's really good (and sometimes I add beans or cooked potatoes if I'm really hungry)

    But yea, to make sure you get your protein eat lots of beans and peanut butter

    and to microwave when your mom gets tired:

    frozen cheese pizzas you "dress up" with fresh vegetables, tofu/boca burger, and different kinds of cheeses;

    pre packaged bean burritos;

    and I LURVE making wraps out of leftover potato/macaroni/colslaw salad with tortillas.

    E-mail me!!! If you have any questions or need more ideas. I LOVE talking about food and I can go on FOREVER with ideas

    Most of these ingredients can be found at Save-a-lot for way cheap. Yea, we're big Save-a-lot customers

    Trust me, your mother will probably be really impressed with how mature you're being if you offer to cook for yourself, and in truth, she'll really help you alot (it's what my mom did, after she made me feel like c**p, lol)

  3. letters are immature, tell her straight. i am 13 and told my mom and she was fine with it

    morningstar is awesome. it is cheaper than real meat too and can be microwaved or on the stove.

  4. dont write a letter just go to her and sit down and explain why you want to be a vegetarian and if she still says no ask her why and explain you are not happy

    good luck

  5. Just talk to her and forget the letter.

  6. If you really want her to understand, you could have her watch Earthlings with you.

    If you want to be vegetarian, there are many things that you need to know. Educating yourself will help you sound informed when you speak to her.

    Bread, pasta, cereal, rice, beans, peas, lentil, nuts, seeds, fruits and veggies can easily offer everything that you need except B12.

    All vegetarians should take a B12 supplement regularly since most people eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereals yet still have a B12 status that is lower than recommended.

    It may help you if you see proof that vegetarians have the same potential as anyone else.

    If you need meat or dairy during any stage of your life or to live any certain lifestyle, why does the American Dietetic Association say otherwise?

  7. Why do you have to write her a letter? Why can't you just be like "Mom, I'm going to be a vegitarian." And then explain why. That's what I did. I was a vegitarian for 5 years before I got pregnant.
