  1. Wendy C is right in what she said.  There are a lot of good people out there, but it is best to do the work yourself to keep what info you have private. I am assuming you or your sister are adopted because of the language of your question.

Start with what you have. Do you have her birthdate and place? /do you have his birthdate and place? Most family members will stay in the same area or state they were born in. I know with my mother's family, most of my great aunt/uncles and cousins live in Indiana. My mother's family has been there for 200 years or so.

    1. Try this site: http://www.zabasearch.com/

I have used it and have found family and friends using it.

    2. If there is an obituary listing for a known family member, you can look it up and it usually will list surviving members of the family and where they are from (ie. John Doe of California or Jane Doe of Greenville)

    3. Then there is always the chance they are on some webpage somewhere in the internet. Just try typing their name on Google, Yahoo, or whatever, with quotes and see what pops up.

  2. A name would be good.!:-)

"My sisters fathers family", that would make him her brother, so he's really looking for his father!:-)

  3. hmmm..try like a people search

possibly google some geneology sites :]

  4. there are a couple of things that are relevant to your question...

You are right that you should avoid posting names of living persons here. In fact, it is prohibited by yahoo policy as a violation.

Having said that.. as a GENERAL rule, we may be able to find not much more than you can. This is because nearly all reputable genealogical sites discourage or prohibit posting the same type of info.  As long as those relatives are living, they have a right to privacy. We can offer suggestions for sources to use without violating.

Lastly.. the level of help that anyone can provide to you, is dependent on factors such as WHERE you are looking, and the time frame.  Anyone is welcome to offer you help "off site".. the downside to that, is that you limit yourself to their information. If you post it here (in a non identifying way  ie, where can I find obits for Dayton, Ohio??).. you have the benefit of getting perspective and help from a wide range of people.

  5. 192.com is really good, that's how we found my partners birth mother. It has the electoral register, birth/death and marrage records. Also directory inquires so you can search for a contact number. Best of luck

  6. If it is in UK I would be willing to have a go.

I am subscribed to some genealogy sites. Some people are easy to find, others are not.
