Can someone help translate some colloquial french?

here is the exchange. my french is ok, but she threw something (the term "detournee") at me i'm unfamiliar with. i think i may have annoyed her by my question, but hopefully someone with better french skills can tell for sure. for context, this is someone I've been friendly with for a number of years but we never "dated" - after hanging out with her when she visted the US recently, I began to think may be dating wouldn't be such a bad idea....but i still don't know what her status is (i.e., whether she's seeing anyone back in France). She's going to a rock concert tomorrow night and i wondered who she was going with:

me: alors, question indiscrete mais je vais le poser neanmoins...tu va prendre ton ami au concert?

her: Quel ami. Est-ce une question detournee?

So that's it...not much to go on, i realize. THANKS!

she means that you ask her if she was going with her boyfriend, but actually you didn't ask her straightforwardly if you wanted to go out with her, that's why she said: is it an indirect question?

she meant: "you don't dare to ask me if I have a boyfriend, so you ask if i'm going with my boyfiend, to know if i am free"!

Ya, the first poster is right. She's saying something to the effect of "Is this a round-about question?"
