  1. My guess is when he installed the stereo he shorted out the dash lights. The dash lights and tail lights are on the same fuse.Change it with the same strength fuse and if it blows again trace his operation to find the short. If it doesn't blow again he may have momentarily shorted something. Good luck.

  2. Kick son's butt ! Just kidding, ask him to remove the stereo to help him find the goof.

  3. get him to put everything back before he put in the stereo. On new radio equipment always wire directly to the battery via an in-line fuse. This stops all the problems associated with these types of installations.

  4. Have your son check the radio ground wire, on a truck I had, I had the same problem turned out that the wire I thought was ground was the parking lamp wire, which caused me to blow the original and second fuses I tried when I turned on the parking lamps.

  5. you son cut wires he should not have.. and wiring a radio straight to the battery is dumb. put all wires back in original position and go spend 10 dollars on the wire harness adapter from walmart or autozone. these kits olug stright into your factory wiring and do not allow problems like this to happen.
