You know when you're trying to print something and it says that the printer is offline? Well, how do you make it ON line? The printer is a Canon BJC - 4400... an older model. I'm working from Windows Vista.

  1. Sounds like a printer driver problem. See the link below for help...

  2. klick start, control panel, printers and faxes, right click on the printer and select use online

  3. This "offline" message typically means your computer and the printer are not communicating.

Has the printer ever worked with your Vista OS? I ask because you need to download the Vista driver from the manufacturer (Canon) to run it with Vista. If it's worked, and now it doesn't, then I'd try uninstalling the printer and then reinstalling it. Just make sure you install using the Vista driver for that model and not the old installation disk that came with the printer unless it came with a vista driver.

  4. Try File>Print... Then select the model in the drop down box. If it's not there, go to add new hardware.
